Dr. Henkel gives freely of his time and expertise in many ways. A provider of free care to the poor and homeless in the area through a Christian missionary program, Touched Twice United, as many as 100 people per day can be seen in open clinics to evaluate for oral cancer and screen for advanced dental problems which require immediate care.
A remarkable and rewarding opportunity came this past summer. Dr. Henkel agreed to take on a rather challenging case for a young woman, who had been beaten by her spouse, and left for dead. Partnering with the R.O.S.E. Fund, an organization dedicated to helping abused women (Regaining One’s Self Esteem), numerous hours and approximately $20,000.00 worth of dentistry was donated by Dr. Henkel and Woburn Dental Associates in the reconstruction of this woman’s smile. The end result was fantastic, a woman who was once a shell of a person, was restored to a vital, healthy and happy state. Having been given back the ability to smile, with pride and dignity ,went a long way to allowing this woman to reenter society with the confidence needed to reclaim her life. She is now working to help other women reclaim their lives from the devastating problem of spousal abuse. For more information on contributing to the R.O.S.E. Fund, contact www.rosefund.org
Among some of the other contributions Dr. Henkel makes to the community and local residents, is to regularly contribute to the Woburn High School Scholarship Fund, the annual Walk for Hospice Care, and the local Library.
Dr. Henkel is clearly dedicated to the residents of Woburn. It only takes one meeting with Dr. Henkel to understand how caring and compassionate he is, not only about those in need, but also of your own personal needs and desire for care.
